What is a Piadina?

[pee-ah-Dee-nah]

Piadina, or la piadapieda, la pida, or piè, according to local dialects, is an Italian flatbread made from wheat flour typical of Romagna Region.

Piadina is the quintessential street food of Romagna. In fact, you can’t travel through Romagna without noticing the famous and characteristic chioschi, small shacks like the one pictured below, where piadina is made and sold mostly by women called piadinare.

Italian bread, or Italian flatbread.
Call it the way you want, but piadina is definitely the street food that 100% embodies the Italian style of La Dolce Vita! The typical bread to be filled with all kinds of ingredients, ideal for an alternative break, a quick lunch or a dinner with friends.

The piadina is everywhere. The piadina belongs to anyone. The piadina is absolute. Perhaps it has different names, but it’s the same piadina. In its simplicity, the piadina provides the base, the rest is details.

OUR PIADINA IS HOMEMADE!

We have the “Traditional Piadina” where the dough is made out of flour, water, pure leaf lard and salt.

And we have the Vegan Version where the pure leaf lard is substitute by Organic Vegetable  Oil.

We combine traditional preparations with local ingredients for dishes that are authentic to both their Italian origins and Byron Bay setting.
